Merry Christmas

Santa has come early this year due to my over-efficient loan clearing as well as a barrage of great new music out this week. New tunes include three highly anticipated albums:
and TV On The Radio- Dear Science.

Overall, each band went well beyond expectations creating what is their most developed, polished songs yet; however, Kings of Leon takes the cake. As if their sound wasn't big enough, Kings of Leon stepped it up with a larger, arena rock sound with songs like "Sex on Fire" and "Crawl." Lead vocals and guitar parts were given a higher priority on this record to result in a sound that easily draws you in via contagious hooks. They also posted short videos on their site for each day in September that highlight the recording process, OU tailgating, and hanging out during down time. Check them out before the videos are taken down, they're hilarious!

Lyrically, lead vocalist Caleb Followill, exposes a more vulnerable and honest aspect of writing. Especially in the song, "Revelry" in which Followill explores the tension between his strict, Pentecostal upbringing and the cliche, rock star life on the road with cries to God, "In the dark of the night I can hear you calling my name. With the hardest of hearts I still feel full of pain. So I drink and I smoke and I ask you if you're ever around. Even though it was me who drove us right into the ground."

Go buy this album now; it's worth it.
